Graduation Card and a tutorial

I made this graduation card today for my son who is graduating from high school on Thursday. I wanted a graduation cap that could also hold money or a gift card, his school colors are red and black. On the back of the insert I made a little pocket to hold money or a gift card.
.

Here is the card with the insert sticking out. I found the charm at Michael's, it is from Darcie's. The tassel is home made using embroidery floss, and then attached with a brad.

I started with a eight inch square, and scored at four inches on two sides. Then I scored a diagonally. On the diagonal make it a mountain fold and on the four inch score lines make them a valley fold.

Place tape as in photo. Then flip over and place tape as in the next photo.

Before gluing down you need to find the center of one of the four inch sides, this is where you will place your brad. Attach tassel to the brad. Once it is all glued down you will have a little pocket to put your insert. The insert is 3 1/2 inches square. If you have any questions please ask.

I will be busy this week with my sons graduation so I am not sure if I will get any stamping done and I may not be able to post. Thank you for stopping by.

  1. Congrats on DS's graduation! What an accomplishment for you both! Your card is adorable! I love the whole hat and tassle look - very traditional!

  2. WoW, how cool is this?!? I'll have to give this a try sometime.

Congrats on the "all-grown-up" child ... they have a nasty habit of doing that, huh?!?
