Go Barefoot

Hello I hope you had a very happy day how ever you celebrate.  My card today is for Cat's challenge for the release party on StampTV for Gina K Designs.  Cat's challenge is to use something that you wouldn't normally use on a card.  I scoured through the house and a couple of times in DH's garage and still was stumped.  I couldn't find anything to stimulate my creativity then I remember years ago when DS was a toddler he had a sandbox and being always the crafty one I took a small container and filled it with some of the clean sand before it went into the box.  I have had it for years (DS is almost 21), but I couldn't find it.  Late last night DS was working on his truck out in the garage and found my container of sand, yay.  Now I was faced with how I wanted to use it on a card.   This is the best I could come up with.  Not really that happy with it, but hey it is what it is.  I used two strips of ScorTape and then pressed the sand down into the tape.  I wish you a wonderful week.  I have to work some, but hopefully I will get done quickly and have the rest of the week off for our Spring Break.  I have been on a huge Kraft kick lately and will be entering this into The Spotted Chick's challenge to use Kraft on your project.   Thank you for stopping by.

Butterflies

Hello, I have a quick card I made for a few challenges.   I used one of my all time favorite stamps from Gina K Designs Take Flight. One of the challenges is to make a collage card.  That is a true challenge for me and I have never felt I have done one.  After doing some looking around I decided that I have done that type of card before. I started by using some mask from Tim Holtz and sponged lightly.  Then I stamped some small butterflies in coral and aqua on top.  Sadly though it is very difficult to see after I had added the butterfly and flowers.  Here is a close up.

Design Divas Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Design Diva Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop for April.  You should have came here from Maria's blog.

Today I have a couple of cards I made using some old stamp sets that have been neglected.  First is the one using Funny Farm from Gina K Designs.  When this set came out I had to have it and then I never once finished a card using it.  It was a shame, but every time I tried it got stumped and so I move on to another set.  I will be using it more in the future.  Now as if that wasn't bad enough I also had never used the embossing folder or the fence punch.  I am so glad that we have these hops as it really helps me to get out some older supplies.

For this card I pulled out this image from Happy Camper from Gina K Designs and made this very simple card.  It was for my father in law's birthday and I knew he would want something with a nature theme.  The background was made by scoring the card stock every 1/2 inch and then running an ink pad over the whole thing which leaves the grooves un-inked.  This is a super simple technique that gives the look of wood.

I hope you are enjoying you way through the hop.  You next stop is Cindy's blog.

I am entering these cards in the following challenges

Card 1
  1. Copic Creations: Favorite paper to use for copics (I love Neenah for copics)
  2. Lawnscaping Challenge: Calling all Critters
  3. Creative Inspirations: Pets/Animals

Card 2

  2. The Spotted Chick: Use kraft paper

Okay on to my card.  I made this one for a bunch of challenges which I have listed below.  I just love this adorable little duckling, he seems to be having fun.  It works so well with one of my favorite spring color combos, blue yellow and green.  I will be back on Wednesday morning with another Diesgn Divas Oldies blog hop.  Thank you for stopping by.

    Technique Card

Some title huh?? I know it is kind of lame.  I have the hardest time coming up with new titles.  Anyway I used a couple of techniques in this card.  I started by embossing the image with clear embossing powder on white paper.  Then I did the baby wipe technique over it.  I came out pretty cool.  This is another multi challenge card, they are listed below.

    Simple Joys

I would like to start today with a HUGE Thank You to everyone who has stopped by the last couple of days and left such wonderful comments on my CSS Blog Hop cards.  I have a card I made for this last weeks MoJo Monday sketch.  I love their sketches and try to play along as much as I can.  And as always I waited until the last minute. I used my glitter gel pen on the wings of the butterfly.
    Here is a close up

I am also entering this into Copic Creations challenge to use your favorite technique with copics.  I have recently discovered flicking with copics thanks to a fabulous video from Suzanne Dean.  I thinks flicking works very well when trying to blend two completely different colors like in the center of the iris petals.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week.

    CSS Alumni Blog Hop

Welcome to another Center Stage Alumni Blog Hop.  You should have arrived here from the beautiful Betty's blog.  Today we are using the photo below full of awesome cookies for our inspiration.

I picked the number three for the cookie I was inspired by.  I love the crisp clean and fresh look of blue and yellow with some white.  It is a color combo that really speaks to me.  My first card took three tries to get it the way I have it envisioned.

I started by stamping the daisies on white paper and then with a couple of masks I cut out I sponged the background.  Next I took a Sharpie Paint Pen to add the white dots.  When I decided that this one was a keeper I colored in the centers of the daisies.  On my first try I tried to use emboss resist.  The problem was that in Versamark pen was nearly dry and thus it didn't work very well.  So I cut those daises out to use as my masks.  On my second try I smudged blue ink on some of the flower petals.  Finally I was able to get it to work and with only a few tiny smudges I finished.

My next card only took me about 15 minutes to make.  I had this small piece of daisy paper and knew I had to use if it for this challenge.

This stamp set was free with a $35.00 purchase for the second aniversary for StampTV.  Love this little set.

Your next stop on the hop is the fabulously creative Carla. If you would like to play along we would love to set what you create.  Make sure to post a link on the StampTV Forum.  Thank you for stopping by.

Make sure to leave a comment as you hop along because on Tuesday morning (April 12th), we will randomly choose one of the comments from all the blogs who will get a stamp set of their choice valued up to $24.95!

    Dinomite Birthday

Today I have a card I made for my sons girlfriend.  I know this doesn't look like typical card for a 20 year old girl.  She is very into dinosaurs and green is her favorite color so that directed my card and here is the result.  I really wasn't liking it very much up until the very end.  When I finally picked the colors and laid it out I began to really like it.  By the time I was taking a photo of it I loved it.  Funny how that happens some times.    I love the sketches at The Sweet Stop and have not played along in a very long time so it was definitely time.  Thank you for stopping by and have a happy Wednesday!

    Happy For You

Hello I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday. The sun has been out here today and it sure feels nice.  I am sure that I am not along in the desire to have some nicer weather. Today I have a card that I made for a few challenges that I have listed below.  The main image is done with emboss resist.  I stamped the floral image with versamark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  Next I stamped the text image over the top.  For a final step I sponged memento angel pink over the top.  The circle piece is dry embossed with my cuttlebug and sponged with the pink.  A while back I saw this ruffled ribbon on a circle I think I was from Donna Baker and I loved it and when I saw this sketch on StampTV I knew I wanted to try it.  This is one seriously thick card.  I measured it and it is 1/2 inch!  Thank you for stopping by. Have a happy week!
