Repeat Impressions Designer's Choice Challenge~Color Challenge

Hello it is time for another Designer's Choice challenge with Repeat Impressions. This week it is Karen's turn and she is has issued the color challenge of Black, White and One Other Color.  This was fun one for me as I love a CAS black, white and one color.  I picked purple for my third color.  Here is my card.

This was a fairly quick card using chalkboard technique and some washi tape.  I picked the great sentiment #3901 Over The Hill?  Which I stamped with white pigment ink on black card stock.  I stamped off once on scrap paper before stamping without re-inking on the black card stock.  I then carefully blotted the image with a tissue.  I created the frame freehand with a white marker.  To finish the image I got a little ink on my finger (greatest tool a crafter can have) and smudged it to give it more of a chalkboard look.  The res of the card came together with three different strips of washi tape and some brads.

Now head over to The House That Stamps Built and get all the details of the challenge.  I hope you can join us in this challenge for a chance to win some fabulous stamps.  Don't forget to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the RI Rock Stars.

What if? Wednesdays with Repeat Impressions

Hello and Happy Wednesday!!  It is time for another sketch challenge with Repeat Impressions.  Wendy has another terrific sketch.
I am so ready for Spring so I decided to make a card with Spring flowers.
I used #9203  Daisies & Butterfly for my focal image. It is perfect for the square element in the sketch.  It is colored with copics (colors below).  The sentiment is #3909 Happy Easter/Spring.

Now be sure to head over to The House That Stamps Built and get all the details of the challenge and don't forget  there is a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate.  Now be sure to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the RI Rock Stars.

Little Black Dress

Hello, I have a surprise post.  For the first time in many months I stamped for fun!!  I had a couple of days off work and after spending yesterday cleaning my craft cave I was in the mood to create a card for a challenge.  I went over to one of my favorite sites (StampTV) and found that Gina had a release challenge.  The challenge is to create a card with two or more borders.  I picked a border fo ribbon layered with a die cut on top.
I used Celebrate in Style to create this card.  The beautiful papers are from Authentique Elegant line.  The papers and fun dress made this a fun card to make.  I hope you enjoyed my card.  I have to say that playing for fun is something I didn't realize I missed so much.  I need to find a way to get more free time.

Thank you for stopping by.

Repeat Impressions Project of the Week~Gift Card Holder

Hello it is my turn for a Project of the Week again.  I decided to make a gift card holder.  These are fun little holders that are quick to make.  In fact one year at Christmas my son had an urgent request for one.  He gave me about 15 minutes notice.  Well I was able to whip up one of these really fast.  It didn't have much coloring and I relied on patterned paper to do most of the work for me.  At any rate  here is the gift card holder I have for you today.

I used the large coffee cup from #9303 Thanks a latte' which I colored with copic markers.

Here are the steps to make this gift card holder:

Start with a 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 piece of heavy card stock.  With a Scorpal score on the long side at 3",  4  1/4" and 5 1/2".  Fold the 3" and 5 1/2" fold in a valley fold.  Fold the 4 1/4" fold in a mountain fold.  The card stock should look like this.
Now you need to cut a slot for the gift card to fit into.  I used a Spellbinders die.  Some people like to use punches.  You need to make sure that you will have a long enough slot for the gift card.  So if you don't have a die or punch that will work you need to cut or punch twice to extend the length.
Next you will need some strong tape.  I used ScorTape.  I love this stuff. Tape as shown making sure not to get to close to the opening for the gift card.  Not that I know anything about this or anything.

Now you need to add ribbon so that your gift card will close.  I used ScorTape again.  If you don't want a ribbon you could use a small piece of Velcro or a magnet.
This is how the inside looks when it is complete.  I add #1113 Happy Birthday for the inside sentiment.
The final step is to decorate the front.
I hope you give one of these a try and enjoy making them as much as I do.  Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

Repeat Impressions Designer's Choice Challenge~All Heart

Hello it is time for another Designer's Choice challenge with Repeat Impressions.  This time it is Joyce's turn for a challenge and she choose All Heart.  Prefect for this week.  In fact I was so inspired this week I made two cards!

For my first card I used #4316 Flowering Hearts and #9103 Love is in the Air.   I love using red white and black for Valentines cards.  I love the bold colors together and it doesn't hurt that they are also my high school colors.  I also like to use tulle with this color combo.  Now for my next card.

I had started trying to use this red heart I made with Spellbinder dies and the embossed white layer.  I couldn't get them to work on the card the way I wanted.  So when I finished the first card I had the scrapes of card stock and this heart left on my desk.  That is when this idea popped into my head and I was able to whip this card up in about ten minutes.  All using the discarded pieces from the first card.  The image is #4903 Love Post.  I stamped the image twice once in black and once in red.  I then cut out the center of the red image and layered it on top of the black.

Hello it is Wednesday and it has been two weeks since the last sketch challenge With Repeat Impressions.  Once again Wendy has a wonderful sketch.
Isn't this a fun sketch?  Here is my card.
I used this fun over stuffed chair stamp called Comfy Chair, #2628 and matching sentiment Simple Pleasures, #410. I stamped the chair on some patterned paper and cut it out.  The background print reminded me of wallpaper so I used it.

Now be sure to head over to The House That Stamps Built and get all the details of the challenge and don't forget  there is a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate.  Now be sure to check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the RI Rock Stars.
