The Cuttlebug Spot - Oh So Soft: Felt

It is Tuesday and that means it is time for another The Cuttlbug Spot Challenge.  This week the challenge is to use felt on your project.  This was a difficult challenge for me it is my last for The Cuttlebug Spot, as this is the end of my term.  Nilda has also decided to take a short break on the challenges, but she plans to be back soon with more.  As for me I can't wait.  On to my project.

I started with an idea I had about a week ago to emboss my own felt and it worked, kind of.  I started by spraying the felt with starch and then running it through and if gave this great deep embossing to the felt.  I was so excited, then as I was putting my card together I noticed that the more I handled the felt the embossing was coming out.  I will work on this technique and if I get it right I will share with you.  Being as I was disappointed with my first sample I made another.

CSS Alumni Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to another Center Stage Alumni Blog Hop!  As I am starting the hop, you should have arrived from the StampTV Forum.  Tonight the CSS Alumni group from StampTV is using a wonderful sketch from Melissa Cash. for my card I used the newest set from Theresa Momber called Warm with Love.  I Love irises so much I knew that the first thing I stamped with this set would be Theresa beautifully drawn flower.  I also worked in the color challenge from StampTV of wild lilac, sweet mango and white.  I don't have wild lilac yet so I used vibrant violet instead.

Designs Divas Oldie But Goodies Blog Hop

Hello it is time for another Design Diva Hop.  What is a Design Diva  you say, well it is a group of stampers on facebook.  The theme of the hop is always the same,  we are use "Oldies but, Goodies". Pulling stamps, papers, tools, embellishments, etc. anything that's at least 6 mos. or older to make a card, SB layout, paper project, etc.  I love this as I tend to use my new stuff and forget about the old stuff.

For my card I used the very first Gina K Designs stamp that I bought. I love this butterfly from Take Flight. I haven't used this stamp in a long time. I think that the first year and a half I had it I about wore it out I used it so much.

Everything I used to make this card is at the very least six months old with the exception of the gorgeous patterned paper, it is brand new Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection.

The Cuttlebug Spot - Push the Button

Happy Tuesday!!! It is time for another The Cuttlebug Spot challenge. This week the challenge is to use buttons on your creation.

On Saturday I recieved this adorable image that I had ordered from Simon Says, it is an Ippity stamp from Unity.  I couldn't wait to color this one.  I also used the sketch  from The Sweet Stop. They are celebrating 100 sketches this week and there is a twist to the sketch this week of How Sweet.  I chose to go with a sweet image instead of an image of something sweet.

A couple of challenge cards

Today I have a couple of cards I made for some challenges.  First I have a card I made late Friday night just after the inspiration challenge was posted on SCS.  The inspiration came from a online store called Kirkland's.  I found this cork board and was inspired to make this card.

 I am not all that thrilled with how it came out, but went with it anyway.  I also am entering this into one of the challenges on StampTV for the release to use metal on your project, I used brads as thumbtacks. 

Then today I made this round card for a few different challenges which I have listed below.

One of the challenges is for another challenge on StampTV for the Gina K Designs release.  This one was a true challenge as Deb Felts challenged isy to step out of our comfort zone and not use some of your normal go to items.  For me I felt that meant I should not use copics. I love to color and copics are my tool of choice.  So I dusted off the old colored pencils and OMS and colored up this beautiful flower from Theresa set Little Critters.  I also made the choice to not go with a normal shaped card.  Last Friday Beate posted how she made a round easel card and I loved it and knew I wanted to give it a try.

Today I have a card that I made for Joanne's blogaversary challenge.  She has a small list of items to choose three from to use to make your card.  I chose twine, number paper, and kraft paper. The Cuttlebug Spot - All Tied Up!

Happy Tuesday!!!  It is time for another The Cuttlebug Spot challenge.  This week we are challenged to use twine or string on your creation.  Many of you already know by now that I love twine so this was easy peasy for me.

A couple of months ago Theresa posted this card and I knew I wanted to do something like it. So this week I was thinking that the scene Theresa had created reminded me of a postcard and that is what I was trying for.

Spring Day

I wish it was spring.  It is very windy and raining here today.  So I made this spring card.

  I have a bird bath that look at lot like this one in my backyard and the birds love it.  It is so fun to sit an watch them in it and sometimes even fight over it.  When the weather gets nicer we will have to add water to it at least daily as they splash water everywhere. I used the sketch from StampTV.  I am also entering it into the challenge for Joan's Garden.  Joan's challenge this week is a recipe, to use the colors orange and blue, spring theme, use a die cut, and use a circle.  Also The Pink Elephant's challenge is a Spring Time, so I will be entering there as well. I am at a loss.....

for a title for this post.  This happens all the time and even after three years of blogging I still get totally stumped on titles.  I am sadden by the devastation in Japan and my heart goes out to all that are effected by this tragedy. I have lived in earthquake prone areas all of my life and it is very scary how in just an instant everything around you can be destroyed or worse.   I got an unexpected day off yesterday due the tsunami warnings.  I happen to live up in northern California just south of Crescent City where they had some of the most damage to the U.S.  Everything was fine for us, but we are nearly surrounded by the low laying areas that the authorities were concerned about.  About 10 minutes before leaving for work yesterday I got a call  that I didn't have to come in to work.  So that meant I got a day to play with my stamps.  Which was much needed after more than a week of sinus trouble that has kept me from wanting to make anything or even blog.  So enough of me blabbering I have a card I made using this weeks sketch from MoJo Monday, Simon Says challenge- Anything Goes and ABC Challenege's challenge P is for Pearl.

The Cuttlebug Spot -So Charming

The challenge this week for The Cuttlebug Spot is to use charms on your project.  I have been wanting to make a white on white card for a long time.  I almost got there this time, but I couldn't resist adding a lilac mat.  It is still mostly white and I am very happy with how it turned out.  I just wish I could have taken a photo of it to show how pretty it really is.

Kraftin' Kimmie Challenges

A fun new challenge

About a month ago a new challenge blog started called Desert Islands Crafts Challenge.  It sounded fun to me so I gave it a try.  The challenges are based on an itinerary of ten items.  For you project you need to use at least three of the items on the itinerary.  Well, I was the lucky winner of the first challenge.  What did I win you ask?  I get to pick the itinerary for a future challenge.  This happens to be my week.  Here are my ten itinerary items.

The Cuttlebug Spot - Ouch! Hat Pins

It's Tuesday and that means it is time for The Cuttlebug Spot.  This week the challenge is to use Hat Pins on your project.  I happen to love using hat pins and it has been a long time since I had used any so I was happy to see this challenge. 

I used the adorably sweet image from The Greeting Farm. She is from Naughty or Nice.  I added glitter to her wings and halo, but it is hard to see in the photo.  To make the hat pins I used a pearl topped pin that I added beads to.  to stop the beads from sliding up and down the pin I used a stop bead that you can find in the beading section of a craft store.  Finally after placing the pins in the bow I took my wire cutter pliers and snipped the sharp end of the pins so there are no sharp ends.
